There’s a UFC event on Fox next week. The Main event will feature New Jersey native Jim Miller taking on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Both fighters are officially ranked in the top of the Lightweight division. The winner of this bout will undoubtedly be one fight closer to contention for Anthony Pettis’ UFC Lightweight Championship title. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is on a 3 fight win streak with all 3 bouts ending in TKO or Submission. Jim Miller is also on a hot streak finishing his last 2 out of 3 fights by Submission victory in the first round. Both fighters are well known for their exciting styles and as aggressive hunters of the submission.
In his previous outing, Jim Miller submitted Hawaiian scrapper Yancy Medeiros at UFC 172 in Baltimore, MD. Medeiros, an aggressive wrestler and Cesar Gracie Fight Team member was hurt early after an unforgiving liver shot by Jim Miller. Miller then threw Medeiros to the mat and submitted Medeiros with a guillotine choke at 3:18 in the 1st round. At UFC 168, Miller fought Royler Gracie student Fabricio Camoes, once again it was Jim who aggressively attacked for the submission ending the fight by Armbar 3:42 of the first round. There’s no doubt that Jim Miller is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert, having submitted many elite grapplers in his pursuit of the title.
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is also streaking in the win column. The Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA based fighter is on a tear since his decision loss to Rafael dos Anjos last August. At UFC on Fox 10,Cerrone scored a knockout victory against Adriano Martins with a Head Kick in the closing seconds of the 1st round. Equally as dangerous on the ground as he is standing, Cerrone in his next fight submitted one of the most dangerous strikers in MMA, as he rear-naked choked Edson Barbosa early in the 1st round. The “Cowboy” is a veteran of the sport and is a truly well-rounded mixed martial artist. Having won “Fight of the Night” honors a combined 11 times this Main Event is going to be “A slobber knocker”.
Evolution Grappling Academy and Fishkill Jiu Jitsu head coach Mike Palladino was hand-picked to an “Invite Only” training camp for top ranked UFC Lightweight Fighter Jim Miller’s Main Event fight on Fox. Emulating the grappling style of Donald Cerrone was the goal in preparation for the fight.
