‘Cub’ Wassweiler moves up, Wins 2nd MMA Title – Beacon MMA

Beacon MMA Fighter becomes 2 Weight-class Champion

Four weeks into the New Year, and Beacon MMA fighter Cub Wassweiler has seized another championship title. The Beacon MMA fighter and his team headed up to the state capital on Saturday evening for his Lightweight Title fight. Cage Wars: 35 set the tone for an exciting evening of fights for MMA fans at the historic Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY. The card was stacked with 12 fights, three of which were title fights. Cristian ‘Cub’ Wassweiler would be challenging for the vacant Cage Wars Lightweight Championship in the Co-Main Event of the evening. Standing across the cage from Cub, would be the hometown fighter, Justin Bressette, representing the Albany-based team of Brian Beaury Jiu Jitsu.

Success in Title Fights

There were no ‘jitters’ going into Saturday night’s title fight. It was a familiar feeling for Cub, who in his previous outing, challenged Noah Donawa for the A.C.C. Featherweight title(145 lbs.). A fight that Cub won :56 seconds into the first round via submission. It would take Cub just an additional two seconds to capture the Lightweight Title Saturday night. After a few grappling exchanges, the Beacon MMA fighter would submit Bressette in just 58 seconds via Triangle choke, to be crowned champion. With his victory, Wassweiler is now a two-division champion, holding the 145lb Featherweight Title for A.C.C. and the 155lb Lightweight Title for Cage Wars.
